He is preceded in death by his wife Donna Sue Sowell and survived by his children Jackie Hutcherson, Lori Smith, Gina Scarbrough, and Barry Scott; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Stumpy was a caring and loving husband and father. A hardworking, diesel mechanic for many years, he took pride in being the sole provider for his family, allowing his wife to take on the duties of mother and homemaker. He raised his children with love and devotion, inspiring in them the same charitable qualities as he had throughout his life.

Visitation for Stumpy will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home Sunday, October 27th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and again on Monday, October 28th from 10:00am to 11:00am with services beginning at 11am in the Chapel.
