William “Allan” Gonce, born on July 18, 1961, age 61, peacefully passed away on April 7, 2023 in Nashville, TN. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends and his two dogs Beau and Bella.
Allan preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gonce, his father, William Leonard Gonce and nephew, Scott Chavez.
Survived by his loving spouse Craig Gonce, their son Dean William Gonce, his mother Judy Chilton, a sister Linda Gonce-Chavez and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Allan grew-up on a family ranch. Through advanced participation in FFA (Future Farmers of America) he became an award-winning equestrian and was known as the famed mascot for University of New Mexico, Lobo Louie.
Allan’s love for cooking and his entrepreneurial instinct drove him to purchase a restaurant in 2007, then later buying a moving company which he successfully ran for six years before returning to corporate work. He retired in 2019, moved to Ajijic, Mexico where he enjoyed his final years. Allan made a hobby of actively engaging in political news. His ability to absorb as much information as possible about any event or person always made for spirited conversations. Allan enjoyed jogging and participated in several half marathons throughout his life. As a volunteer for Nashville PRIDE, Allan worked his way up to president of PRIDE in 2013. He also volunteered his time in the PFLAG-Franklin chapter. Allan loved gardening, yardwork and being a father to his son Dean. He remained an active member in church communities/activities in the Franklin/Fairview, TN. area.
Allan was an individual of great character and integrity; he lived a life marked by compassion and kindness towards others. Throughout his lifetime, he made an indelible impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him particularly in the area of LGBTQ equality.
Family was of the utmost importance to Allan. As a devoted spouse and parent, he brought immeasurable love and joy into the lives of his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support that will guide them through their future life paths. Allan’s remarkable journey will be commemorated through two special events. The first event, a Graveside Service at 12:30 pm on July 22, 2023, will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden, Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Nashville, TN. Located at 9090 TN-100. Following the Graveside Service, a Visitation will take place at The Pavilion at Harpeth Hills starting at 1:00 pm, this gathering will allow loved ones to come together and share their fond memories of Allan.
