Allen A. Mitchell passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2020 following a courageous 9 year battle with kidney cancer. A true Nashville native, born in 1951, he was the beloved only child of John and Mary Ruth Thomas Mitchell who precede him in death.

He is survived by his spouse Dale Baird Mitchell, parents-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Harry G. Baird, brothers-in-law David K Baird (Evelyn) and Grimes Baird (Jane), sister-in-law Dorothy B. Pryse. Also survived by his nieces, nephews and recently born great-niece. They all held the most special place in his heart: Lane Pryse Reed (Chad), Madison and Sydney Baird and nephews Sam & Will Pryse and great niece Quinnlyn Ann Reed.

Allen retired from the Metro Nashville Police Department after serving 34 years. The last 18 years of his career, he was assigned to Vice Specialized Investigations Division where he developed deep and lasting friendships with his brothers in blue.

The family offers special thanks to Becky and CL Stevens, Doctors Jennifer Halpren and Katy Beckermann of Vanderbilt UMC, staff of Kindred Hospice and Sarah Castor of STAR Physical Therapy whose extraordinary care and support has bolstered us through this journey.

Memorial Mass will be Saturday, June 26, 2021, 11:00 am at St. Henry Catholic Church. Visitation from 10:00 am-11:00.
