Cledoth Alvin Lankford was born September 1, 1920 in Fairview TN.
He went to be with our Lord January 18, 2014.
He will be re-united with his father and mother Cullom and Eula, sisters Ella, Laura, and Haudie, brothers Leo, Clifton, and Cecil, son Darrell and daughter-in-law Katrinkia.

He is survived by his wife Elfie, his brother Lawrence, his sons Don and Dave, his daughter-in-laws Jacqueline and Sara, his seven Grand-children Alex, Dale, Kelly, Mary, Courtney, Sean, and Kimberly, and his fifteen great-Grandchildren TJ, Tyler, Johnathan, Kendra, Skyler, Daniel, David, Kyra, Tomas, Brody, Braden, Kerrigan, Declan, Isabel and Courtland.

He served our country in the Army during WW II. He was wounded in France, recovered in UK, and was sent back to France until the end of the war. Cledoth Alvin Lankford returned to Tennessee where he met and married the love of his life, Elfie Anderson, and they were married for 67 years.

He invested his time in activities with his family all of his life; work-time, hobby-time, playtime, and vacations. Many weekends the family would go to the lakes for camping, fishing, or waterskiing. He stressed the importance of putting God first in everything that you do.

He was a skilled metal worker specializing in auto body and fender repair. He could make a crumpled and tangled piece of metal into a smooth and graceful work of art that looked like it just rolled off the assembly line. He worked for 25 years with Jim Reed Chevrolet on Broadway in downtown Nashville until he retired at 63. After retirement he took odd jobs and worked part-time for another 25 years. He was resourceful. It was amazing how he could fix things. One of his relatives said, "If you wanted something done you knew who to call. If he couldn't do it; he would find someone who could." He was better when he was active, he said. In retirement he took up Grand-parenting, Tennis, Golf, & Snow Skiing, He enjoyed occasionally hunting and fishing.

He was a member of West Nashville Heights Church of Christ where he served in whatever capacity that he was asked to serve. He served as a deacon for many years and he was appreciated by those who served along-side him. He showed respect to everyone. He was merciful to those in need. He was empathetic to the sick and aged. His love for his fellow man was evident in his word and his deed.

He continuously set an example of what a Christian servant should be.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
A celebration of Alvin's life will be conducted at 3:00 PM.
Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens with military honors.
