Today, the world is a little less bright as we both mourn and rejoice in the passing of Anna Eva Elizabeth Overton; one of God's most radiant lights. We mourn because we lost a Sister. A Mother. A Granny. An Aunt. A friend. A shimmering star in an otherwise dark and dreary world. With her departure home, over the next few days, we will recognize what a tremendous void she has left in each and every one of our lives.
However, as we remember her we will be filled with love, joy, and hope. Love, as we come to comfort one another during this time of loss. Joy, in knowing she fought the good fight; held steadfast in the faith and has gone home to be with her savior. Hope, in the knowledge that if we too exercise and believe in the example she laid out for us so diligently, her absence will be but a flicker in the spark of eternity. For when we reach those celestial heavenly shores ourselves, she shall surely be there to greet us.
Born the 13th of March,1929 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Homer and Stella Ainley. She was brought up in Apostolic faith. Having received the Holy Ghost, she answered the call to ministry when she married Rev. Orville J. Overton and set off to Pastor their first of many churches together. Always an advocate for truth, a fountain of mercy, and a rock in which whose life is an example and foundation for all to follow.
Anna loved the Lord and was a mighty prayer warrior. Her home was open to all, never letting a soul go by without sharing the love of God with them. She found great joy serving in God's kingdom and was a favored Sunday School teacher to many. Her favorite passage of scripture is found in the book of Psalms, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever." Psalms 111:10. Anna made sure to live a life in the fear of the Lord.
Anna is survived by her daughter Renee Beeding and sons John (Kerry) Overton, Ken (Angela) Overton, and Wayne (Lana) Overton, grandchildren Michael (Angela) Overton, Alyssa Overton, Christopher Michael Overton, Candace Michelle Overton, Brandilyn (David) Klope, Dallas Beeding, Tammy (Robbie) Canada, Jonas (Merlita) Lewis, Amanda (Mike) Trombley, Amber (Jimmy) Cook, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Ms. Overton is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Reverend Orville John Overton, brothers James and Paul, and sister Olive.
