Arlene Carol Hightower White

Arlene Carol Hightower White, 83 passed away peacefully on December 10, 2021.
Arlene was born on December 18, 1937, to Morris and Katherine Hightower. A native Nashvillian and a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Arlene could scarcely go anywhere in town without running into a dear friend. While she had a talent for gardening, was involved in Bible study, and played a lot of bridge, she was particularly skilled at making friends, the lifelong kind. Arlene was also a doer. Whether she was volunteering at one of her kids’ schools or planning a Class of ’55 reunion, she could always be depended upon. The beach trips she organized ensured that her grandchildren would become close cousins despite living in different cities. Arlene will be remembered for her strength, unwavering convictions, and her faith in the salvation found in Jesus.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Lee White. She leaves behind a sister Nancy Hightower Hutcherson (John) of Ft. Myers, Florida, a son, Scott White (Karen) of Brentwood, and daughters Sharon White Owen (Billy) of Waco, Texas and Jennifer White Barnes (Scott) of Dallas, Texas. She was proud to be a grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Alex, Ethan, Addison, Griffin, Drew, Maddie (Kambel), Reagan, Allison, Paige, Will and Libby.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers that loved her so well, treating her with dignity and respect in her final years. We are especially thankful to Georgia and Inez and the staff at Somerfield for their devotion and compassion.
A memorial gathering will be held on December 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to be held at 2:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located at 9090 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221.
