Arthur "Vess" Stinson, a beloved member of the Fairview community, passed away on October 8, 2023, at the age of 96 in Williamson County, TN. Born on July 9, 1927, in Williamson County, TN. Vess was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of those around him with his warm heart and unwavering dedication.

Survivors include children, Michael (Donna) Stinson, Gail (Robert) Brawner, Leta (Gary) Barnes, David (Renny) Stinson; grandchildren, Tanika (Cisco) Torres, Nathan (Amanda) Brawner, Nicholas Alan Brawner, Ron (Amy) Perkerson, Darren (Allison) Barnes, Dana Barnes, Derrick (Megan) Stinson, Jamie Ashford, Jennifer White, Jimmy (Stephanie) Atnip, Sarah White; 16 great grandchildren including the newest addition Aurora “Ari” Brawner and numerous family, friends and loved ones.

Vess's career spanned decades as he worked as an electronic technician. His technical expertise and meticulous attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Throughout his professional journey, Vess demonstrated great perseverance and always went above and beyond to ensure that every task was completed to perfection.

In addition to his successful career, Vess had a vibrant personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Known for his diligent work ethic, Vess was always busy nurturing his many interests and passions. He spent countless hours beekeeping, capturing moments through photography, caring for horses and farming. Vess also found joy in restoring tractors and cars. His thirst for knowledge was evident as he was constantly immersed in books.

Vess's love for serving others extended beyond his professional life. At the young age of 17, he joined the Navy. After completing high school, Vess continued his service in the Air Force. His bravery and dedication were an inspiration to all who knew him.

Outside of his remarkable career and diverse set of hobbies and interests, Vess cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He shared many precious moments throughout his life alongside his first wife Kathryn Elizabeth Lampley Stinson and later with his second wife Joyce Pinkerton Stinson. Their love brought him happiness which radiated into all aspects of his life.

To honor his memory and celebrate a life well-lived, the visitation will begin at 9:30am ~ 11:30am with a Celebration of Life at 11:30am on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located at 9090 TN-100 in Nashville, TN. The final resting place for Vess will be Hudgins Cemetery in Fairview, TN. The burial service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on the same day.

Pallbearers include: Ron Perkerson, Brandon Perkerson, Nathan Brawner, Alan Brawner, Derrick Stinson, and Daniel Stinson.


Though Vess may no longer be physically with us, his spirit, and the memories he created will forever live on in our hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and resilience that will continue to inspire future generations. As we gather to celebrate his life, let us remember Vess as a shining example of what it means to live a life filled with purpose and passion.
