SMOTHERS, Autra Murphy- Age 89, Nashville, Passed away January 22, 6 days before his 90th birthday. Born January 28, 1923. Preceded in death by parents, Tom and Vannie Smothers; wife, Sadie Smothers, son, Tom Smothers, Sister, Buron Allen. Survived by his wife, Peggy Ferguson Smothers; son, Don Julie Smothers; grandchildren, Grant Suzanne Smothers, Elizabeth Smothers and Emily Smothers; great-grandchildren, Mann and Murphy Smothers; daughter-in-law, Gail Roger Smothers Smith; son-in-laws, George Lori Ferguson and Keith Ferguson; sister, Elda James Wilkes. Autra was an Army WWII veteran, a member of UAW Local 737 and retired from Ford Glass Plant. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. A life celebration service will be at 10am on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ricky Puckett, Jeff Puckett, Kevin Wilkes, Steve Crow, Don Sadler and George Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Walker Sunday School Class and Deacons of Bellevue Baptist Church. Donations may be made to Bellevue Baptist Building Fund , American Heart Association or Alive Hospice.
