Avis Williams Sublette
Came into this world March 14, 1916 and went out of this world March 21, 2016. On Monday, March 14, she celebrated her 100th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her parents Naylor and Nannie Douglas Williams; husband Charles Sublette; and sister Vauna Williams.
She is survived by sister Christine Boyd Delk; Nieces Adair Davidson, Nancy (Charles) Willis, and Judy (Milton) Knox; nephew Wayne (Judy) Miller.
Avis attended Sylvan Park and Trinity Free Will Baptist Churches, serving as Youth Director, pianist, Women's Missionary work, and sang in the Choir. She was a graduate of Nashville Business College and spent her career as a secretary until her retirement. She loved bowling, fishing, and traveling.
Friends and family are invited to come to the Harpeth Hills Funeral Home for an hour to remembrances about old times on Thursday, 1:30 - 2:30. Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. Ken Riggs at 2:30.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bell, William Baird, Ben Miller, Wayne Miller, Albert Mitchell, Ray Parker, Jason Willis, and Charles Willis. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Excel friends, Jim Atwell, Clemmon Rediker, and Frank Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee.
