Barbara Ellen Tweedy, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2021 due to complications following a heart attack. She was born March 18, 1938 in Savannah, Georgia to Izola and J.C. Moody who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter Donna and beloved son Kristopher. Barbara lived in Nashville for the last 55 years but she was always a Georgia girl at heart. Oh how she loved Savannah and her years growing up there. Her favorite pastime was jitterbugging to Elvis!
She had many jobs in her lifetime but always said her best job was being a housewife. She loved being a wife and a mother to her children. Her second favorite job that she was most proud of was as a Metro School Bus driver for special education children. She retired in 2002 after 15 years of service and she cared for all of them as if they were her own. Before the pandemic and health issues she was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Rhonda Mitchell and her husband Jerry, Tamara Tweedy, and Wes Tweedy and his partner Joy. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Wesley, Jason, Katyen and Erie, her daughter-in-law Suki and her two brothers James and Larry Moody. She leaves a giant hole in our lives that no one else can ever fill. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and she will remain forever in our hearts.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Thomas who were so outstanding with their care and a special thanks to Alive Hospice who showed her compassion and peace in her final hours.
A visitation will be held at the Harpeth Hills Pavilion on Hwy. 100 on July 8th from 1:30-2:30, followed by a celebration of her life from 2:30 to 3:30. Everyone who knew and loved Barbara is invited. If you want to express your condolences, flowers may be sent to Harpeth Hills or in lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital or Alive Hospice.
