Barbara Jewell Buchanan

Barbara Jewell Buchanan, age 69, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Nashville, TN.

Barbara was born in Nashville on April 28, 1953, to Paul and June Adkins and grew up with a large and devoted family.

Barbara was gentle, kind and generous, but also was blessed with a lively sense of humor and a stubborn streak that sometimes belied her quiet demeanor. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a doting Nana and a loyal sister and friend. Barbara’s favorite activities were reading, traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with her family.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and June Adkins, her sister Linda Fay, and her stepdaughters Laura Poteete and Kimberly Buchanan.

She is survived by her husband, Eddie Buchanan; daughter Misty Emery; granddaughter Meghan Emery; sisters Shirley (Bill) Leiser, Debra Mangrum and Paula Jackson; brothers Bill (Barbara) Adkins, Larry Adkins and Jimmy (Susan) Adkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Harvest Fields Baptist Church, 2190 Sam’s Creek Road, Pegram, TN 37143. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN, 37221.

Flowers may be delivered to the church between 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.
