Bertha Margetis Annastas, 90 years old or 12 hours shy of her 91st, as she would say and was born on November 23, 1926, in Stanford, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, George Annastas. They were married for 21 years prior to his death 49 years ago. She grew up in New York City, New York, raised her children in New Jersey before moving to Nashville, TN in 1995.
She is survived by her son Thomas George Annastas; daughter Patricia Joan Annastas Gaeta (Anthony); Sister Jeanette Kirkos (George); grandsons Thomas Annastas Jr (Rebecca); Paul Annastas (Karianne); granddaughters Gina Gaeta Rotondo (Marino); Jennifer Gaeta Ortiz (Ralph III); as well as 9 great grandchildren; Alyssa Rotondo, Mario Rotondo, Ralph Ortiz IV, Mattox Annastas, Juliana Ortiz, Maia Annastas, Arlo Ortiz, Sophia Rose Annastas and Willow Annastas.
Bertha was a spunky little lady with a huge heart for family and friends. She loved her crocheting and even more, loved that her blankets were going to newborn babies and Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and Cancer Center. She loved her coffee and her Lorna Doone cookies. She used them as currency in her later years. She was loyal through and through; grateful for everyday that she was on this earth. She loved shocking people, which kept her at an "R" rating a lot of the time. She had many shocking nannyisms, that could not be published here. She will be terribly missed.
