Mrs. Betty Brewton Blackburn, 91, passed away at her home in Kingston Springs, TN at 11pm on August 2nd. Born in Tallahassee, FL she had been a resident of Kingston Springs, TN since 1946.
She was a graduate of Peabody Demonstration School and George Peabody College for Teachers, taught special education in the Nashville Metro School System for many years, and was an accomplished horsewoman, author, script writer, artist, poet and friend to all who knew her.
Survivors include three sons, George M Blackburn III (Irina), Maggie Valley, NC, John Brewton Blackburn, (Mary), Kingston Springs, TN, Thomas Westbrook Blackburn, Kingston Springs, TN, two grandchildren, Meredith Brown (Kris), Nashville, TN, and Thomas Blackburn, (Alex), Phnom Penh, Cambodia, one great granddaughter, Massey Brown, and her lifelong companion, Lori Hamilton of Kingston Springs, TN.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm, August 11th, at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN.
