Betty H . Louvin, widow of Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall Of Fame Member Charlie Louvin, passed away from natural causes at the age of 93 on May 13, 2023 at The Hearth of Hendersonville.  Betty formerly of Wartrace, TN, was born Elizabeth (Betty) Irene Harrison in Meridian, MS, to Mr & Mrs Oliver Otto Harrison. Betty was one of 13 children (9 boys and 4 girls) and was the last surviving child of Mr and Mrs Harrison.

Betty started working at the age of 14 at a local Walgreens in Memphis, TN, where she met her future husband (Charlie) in 1947.  Betty said with 9 brothers she never really dated and that she got to know Charlie from her job. In September 1949 Charlie asked Betty to marry him. Betty’s dad gave them $8.00 and they drove to Meridian, MS where they got married in a preacher's living room. Betty married Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall Of Fame Member Charlie Louvin on  September 18, 1949. Betty often said she and Charlie enjoyed their life as much as possible and that although they had their rocky moments, that she wouldn’t change a thing. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Charlie Louvin and her oldest son Charlie (Sonny) Louvin Jr.

Betty is survived by 2 sons - Kenneth (Cheryl) Louvin and Glenn (Chris) Louvin, 6 grandchildren (Wendy, Kimberly, Kelly, Alex, Cassidy and Cade) and one great grandchild (Emma Joan).

A private family service and burial will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Nashville, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs Louvin honor to MusiCares at 1904 Wedgewood Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212 or to the Opry Trust Fund at One Gaylord Drive, Nashville, TN 37214.
