Bettye Ruth Kinnie, age 93, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed peacefully on January 22nd, 2025, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Bettye was born in Dickson, Tennessee, on January 27th, 1931, to parents James Blake Stewart and Hallie Ellen (Vetter) Stewart. She was the youngest of eight children: Christine Asalee Edwards (Felix), Bertie Louise Pruitt (Albert), Dimple Aleene Faulkner (Charles), James Blake Stewart (Wilma), Johnnie Augustus Stewart (Lucille), Effie Mai Eades (Joseph), and Ellen Marie Pressley (Douglas). Bettye is preceded in death by her mother, father, siblings, and granddaughter, Alexandra Morgan (Kinnie) Taylor. She is survived by her son, Thomas L. Kinnie, Jr. (Patty) and daughter, Susan Kinnie Parris (Ritchie). In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren: James Justin Parris (Elise), Chelsae Parris Castaneda (Ryan), Reagan Elizabeth Kinnie, Amber Parris Rice (Michael), Darby Grace Kinnie, 5 great-grandchildren, as well numerous nieces and nephews. Bettye was a vibrant member of the Bellevue and South Harpeth communities for over 60 years as well as a member and regular attendee of the Bellevue Church of Christ. She enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, reading, and puzzles. She will be greatly missed by the many loving family members she leaves behind. Services for Bettye Kinnie will be held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens and Funeral Home. The visitation will be at 11:00am, memorial service at 1:30pm, followed by graveside burial at 2:30pm.
