Beverly Griffin Vincent age 88, passed away Wednesday October 31, 2018. She was born March 13, 1930.

Beverly was preceded in death by husband Alexander Frederick Vincent; daughter Valerie L. Vincent; parents Thelma V. Griffin and R. Rufus Griffin; and sisters Margaret Anne Vanderveer and Jeanne Hinton. Survived by children Alexander Frederick Vincent, Jr. and T. Griffin Vincent; grandchildren Alexander Frederick Vincent III, Harrison B. Vincent, Sarah V. Moore, Margaret E. Vincent, and Thomas G. Vincent, Jr.; and step-grandchildren Michael L. Mattingly and Matthew S. Mattingly.

Beverly was born and raised in Nashville, graduated from West High School, and received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University. She later received her Master's in Children with Learning Disabilities from Vanderbilt Peabody College and worked with children for many years.

Beverly's mother and father operated The Cupboard, a bakery, in Nashville. Beverly was the youngest of three sisters. Beverly and Fred were married in 1951. They had three children: Valerie (born 1954), Rick (born 1956), and Griffin (born 1966). They lived in Nashville, and then Oak Ridge, TN, Paducah, KY, Nashville, and Tulsa, OK, before returning to Nashville. Beverly was a devoted wife and caring mother. Beverly and Fred were wonderful parents, who believed strongly in the value of education. They were special grandparents.

Beverly was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She served as a circle leader, Bible teacher, and volunteer delivering meals on wheels. For many years, Beverly and Fred were blessed to be a part of an active small group at the church. Beverly also volunteered for Fannie Battle and the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Centennial Club and Hillwood Country Club.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, November 3, 2018, at twelve o'clock in the afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church of Nashville. Interment will be later at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday from eleven o'clock in the morning until the hour of the service at the First Presbyterian Church of Nashville.

In lieu of flowers the family request, donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131, in Beverly's memory.
