Bobby Ray Morefield, age 85 of Nashville, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Thomas West Hospital.
Bobby was born in Nashville on July 8, 1931, the eldest son of Carter Edward Morefield and Cora Bell White Morefield.
He was a graduate of Nashville North High School and married his high-school sweetheart, Dorothy Ann Crump, in 1951. Starting life in what would be considered almost impossible situations, Bobby took his early life experiences to create a home for his wife and children. He established rules in his life that were clear and direct to those around him and provided for his family through his entrepreneurial character. He began a printing company, was a real estate investor and sold insurance. To provide a strong education for his children he helped establish Nashville Christian School, serving on the Board of Directors for many years.
He served his country in the United States Army, and served his Creator as a deacon and elder of Western Hills Church of Christ, formerly Brookmeade Church of Christ.
Bobby is survived by his three children: Tim (Laura) Morefield of Cape Coral, FL, Lydia Parrish of Nashville and Ellen (Bill) Treanor of Goodlettsville; a brother: William Albert Morefield of LaVergne; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Ann Morefield; and a brother: Thomas Edward Morefield.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 noon at the funeral home followed by burial, with military honors, in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Nashville Christian School or the American Alzheimer's Association.
