Carolyn Liberatore

It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Moretto Liberatore of Nashville, TN formerly of Yeadon, PA announces she passed away on June 13th, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. She was 74 years old. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Ken and his wife Susan, and her two grandchildren Sophia and Alexandra. She was preceded in death by her parents Jeremiah Moretto and Ida Ponzio Moretto.

Growing up she attended St. Louis Church and School and was a 1960 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, PA. She spent many years working in the airline industry for various airlines including Eastern, British Airways, and Air India. After leaving the airline industry she became an entrepreneur in the soft pretzel business bringing the first Auntie Anne's Pretzel franchises to Nashville, TN in 1993.

Affectionately known as "the pretzel lady" to many around Nashville, she loved getting to know her customers, especially the tourists who frequented her store on 2nd Avenue. She often made visits to local schools with fresh, hot pretzels. As a grandmother, she loved the opportunity to visit both of her granddaughter's kindergarten classes at St. Henry School and demonstrate pretzel making and the special technique of getting the twist just right.

She will be greatly missed by her family and her strong, loving community of friends. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held Saturday at 11 am at St. Henry Church 6401 Harding Pike in Nashville, TN. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 am prior to the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St, Nashville, TN 37203 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
