Chance Robert Bess Ritchie, of Lyles, TN was born on July 4th, 1994 in Nashville, TN. Chance was tragically killed on October 7, 2019 when he was struck by a semi-truck alongside Interstate 40 at Mile Marker 156 while outside of his vehicle due to car trouble. The driver never stopped. Chance was 25 years old.

Chance is survived by his mother Norma Jean Ritchie; sister Mandy Martin Smith; grandmother Loraine Bess; nephews and niece Brennen, Richard, and Aleighia Smith; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his father Clarence Robert Bess, Jr. of Nashville; grandfather Clarence Robert Bess, Sr.; grandparents William and Janell Ritchie of Kingston Springs, TN.

Chance was an outgoing and free-spirited young man who wasn't afraid to try new experiences and live life to its fullest. He enjoyed learning different jobs including carpentry and other construction work. Chance loved his family and his friends and he will be missed dearly by all those that were in his life.

A visitation for Chance will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2019 starting at 2:30pm with a graveside service beginning at 3:30pm in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
