Charles Greer

Charles Dickens Greer, aged 82, went to be with our Lord early Sunday morning on July 10, 2022, at The Waters of Cheatham Nursing home under hospice care.

Charles was born at home on the family farm in Nashville, TN, on June 8th, 1940. He was the youngest of six children born to Archie Tidwell Greer SR and Lillian Irene Buttrey.


Charles grew up on the family farm where they raised chickens, pigs and milked cows, which they sold to the Sealtest Milk Company. He was a country boy. He had many pet chickens that he named.


Charles graduated from Bellevue High School 1959 and went on to serve 6 years in the Navy many which were aboard the USS Saratoga Aircraft Carrier, as an Electrical Engineer. He then sold insurance for a while before working for many years at The Cedar Place with his brother, Bobby.


He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his parents and four brothers: Archie Tidwell Greer JR, William “Richard” Greer, Bruce Fairfax Greer and Robert Burns Greer and one sister, Emily Virginia Robbins. He was baptized at South Harpeth Church of Christ where he was a member for many years.


His hobby was communicating on the Ham Radio, WB4FLC was his Handel. He had a gift for repairing old, antique tube radios. His greatest love was his dog Molly, who was a faithful companion until the end.
