Charles L. Hailey
Brentwood - Passed away March 4, 2020. He is predeceased by his father Wesley James Hailey, his mother Sarah Elizabeth Gourley, his brother Wesley J. (Jim) Hailey, Jr., and his sister-in-law Polly Sue Hailey.
He is survived by his wife Betty Kerrigan Hailey, his son Charlie Hailey (Melanie Hobson), his grandchildren Aidan and Phoebe Hailey, and his nephew Wesley J. Hailey III (Yvonne).
Kind, generous, and of a keen intellect, he was an avid reader and an exceptional storyteller who took pride in hearing about his family's own adventures.
Charles was a champion tennis player. Among his fondest memories was winning the Men's Doubles State Championship with his longtime doubles partner George McIntosh. Dedicated to education, he both taught and served as an administrator for more than four decades in Metro Nashville Public Schools, where he worked on the teams that put together Apollo Middle School and McGavock High School.
Memorials can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank and Nashville Rescue Mission. Visitation at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, March 14, 2020, from 11am to 12pm.Graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens (Garden of Grace)
