Charles A. Layfield, Jr. passed away September 20, 2018 at his Nashville residence following an extended illness at the age of 68.

He is survived by his wife Harriett Means Layfield; three children: Chris (Jacque) of Brentwood, Brad (Dana) of Murfreesboro and Julia Morgan Egedahl (Kaare David) of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren: Ryan, Oscar David, Rosalie May, Isabella, Skylar and Madison as well as his brother Hill (Marie) of Acworth, GA and constant companions and pets Trap and Phoebe.

At Charlie's request, there will be no funeral service but friends and family will gather at a later date for an informal celebration of his life. The family requests that memorial contributions be made directly to Bonaparte's Retreat Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 150232, Nashville, TN 37215 (bonapartesretreat.org) or to the American Cancer Society.
