Charles "Charlie" Fentress

Mr. Charles “Charlie” Leslie Fentress age 86 of Nashville, TN. passed peacefully at his home on December 29, 2022.

Charlie was born on January 18, 1936, to the late Melvin Fentress and Lera Mai Johnson Fentress. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James B. Fentress.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Fentress, daughters, Kristen (Lisa) Fentress and Lee (Chad) Hargis, also his beloved grandchild, Emily Claire Hargis.

Fentress, attended Cohn High School and was one of Nashville’s most versatile high school athletes in the 1950’s. He was the 1955 NIL most valuable basketball player along with being a star halfback in football and outfielder in baseball. He went on to play basketball and baseball at Belmont and was inducted into the Metro Nashville Public Schools Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. He was a retired Captain for the Metro Fire Department, serving for thirty-eight years.

Graveside services to be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the garden of Peace at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN. 37221
