Charlie Ben Basford, Jr (81) of Nashville, TN passed away on February 11, 2020. Funeral services will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
Charlie was born on April 10, 1938 to Cora and Charlie Ben Basford, Sr. in Clarksville, TN. He graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelors in Math and Industrial Arts and graduated from University of Tennessee with a Masters in Education. Charlie taught industrial arts for 2 years at Franklin High School and 35 years teaching industrial arts at Metro-Davidson Junior and High Schools. Charlie also taught GED math at the Tennessee Correction Facility.
Charlie was a master at many trades including gardening, jewelry making, wood working, wood turning and wood carving. He was either in his shop, fishing, out in the garden, at the local hardware store or volunteering his time to the surrounding communities. Charlie earned his title as Master Wood Turner and dedicated his time to the Dickson County Wood Turners Association.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen; his two daughters, Kara (Godineaux) and Stephanie; son in law, Santos (Godineaux); and his two grandchildren, Darian and Cora.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 21, 4:00-7:00 pm, and Saturday, 12:00-1:00; Funeral Service, 1:00; all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
