Claude H. Steele

Claude H. Steele, age 85 of Nashville, TN passed peacefully on April 7, 2023 surrounded by his daughters, grandsons and great grandchildren.

Claude was born  June 18, 1937 to the late Norman and Esta Steele.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette and sister Pauline Boyd.   Survivors include his daughters Penny Steele Dorris (Chuck) and Pam Thrower (Tommy), grandsons Will Thrower (Ashley), and Trevor Thrower, Great Grandchildren Avery Thrower and Caden Thrower.

Claude grew up in Decherd TN where he met the love of his life, Jeanette.  They married in 1958, eloping to Ringgold, GA.  Together, they moved to Nashville to work at Ford Glass Plant and begin a family.  Claude became the original 'Girl Dad' with two loving daughters.  He raised his family to love the Lord as he did, serve others and simply live each day to the fullest. During the younger years of his daughters, he coached girls softball for many years and sponsored as Steele Construction which he enjoyed.  After retirement, he enjoyed travelling with his wife, especially to Switzerland. Many travels included family and friends to Smokey Mountains, Las Vegas, Savannah and many more.   Shortly thereafter, he became a Proud Papa to Will and Trevor, who brought more joy to his life than he imagined.  Papa shared his faith, love of family, enjoyment of sports with his grandsons.  As a Papa, he watched his grandsons become wonderful young men.  Then came two beautiful and shining smiles of great grandchildren, Avery and Caden.  At the end of the day, they brought joy to his heart that one can only hope for.  He loved them immensely.

He was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church for over four decades.  He was dedicated to his Church and a loyal member of the Methodist Mens Group.

Claude, Daddy, Papa will be greatly missed.

Visitation with the family will begin on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm.  Service will begin at 1:30 pm with graveside following.  All services will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221.
