Clyde Marvin Porter III went to his home in heaven on September 30, 2020.
Mr. Porter was born on October 25, 1950 to Clyde Marvin Porter Jr., and Marie Porter.
He grew up in Lewisburg, Tennessee and Waynesboro, Tennessee with his sister, Nancy Anne.
Clyde was a father, son, husband, soldier, and friend. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1978, attaining rank of E-6, Staff Sergeant. Serving 2 tours in Vietnam, he earned multiple medals including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Air Campaign Medal, and a Purple Heart.
Clyde was an avid fisherman and motorcycle rider. He loved to hike in the woods with his family.
Following his Army service, Mr. Porter was an expert machinist. Later, he worked as an environmental worker for the VA Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, where he continued his service by serving U.S. Veterans.
Mr. Porter is survived by his wife and friend, Kathy Jones Porter, his children; daughter, Jennifer Marie Porter Daniel; son, Clyde Marvin Porter IV (Sondra); much loved grandchildren, Rylee Nicole Porter, Carson Michael Daniel, Clyde Marvin Porter V (C.J.), and Justin Cole Daniel.
He is also survived by many fellow veterans, friends, and staff at the national and state veterans homes.
Service will be led by pastor and friend, Stan Smith on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Followed by burial with military honors at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on October 14, 2020 from 10:30AM-12:30PM with service at 12:30PM. Graveside Services will be at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 7931 McCrory LN, Nashville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Clyde is remembered by acts of kindness for others.
