Constance "Connie" Siemanski

Our beautiful wife and mother went to be with the Lord February 21, 2020 holding hands with her husband of nearly 55 years with her daughters at her bedside. Connie was born in New Kensington, PA, on November 6, 1941. She graduated from Springdale High School in 1959 and was determined to further her education. Through hard work and perseverance, she graduated with a BS in English from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PAwhere she met the love of her life, Ron. In 1965, they married at St. Alphonsus Church in Springdale, PA after Ron was discharged from the US Army as a first lieutenant. Connie went on to teach in the public school system, touching numerous young lives with her natural gifts. She gracefully transitioned from her teaching career to becoming a mother, a profession in which she excelled. She could do it ALL as a mom!

Connie was very active, not only in her daughters' school where she was a much beloved substitute teacher, but also in her parish, St. Henry Church. She was a member of the Women's Club, RCIA, Emmaus, Eucharistic Ministry, Parish Council, Young Adult Ministry, and more. She was recognized with the Henrietta Award, the highest award given to a female parish volunteer. Connie was also very active in the Cursillomovement, eventually serving as rector. Some of Connie's hobbies through the years included playing tennis, bowling, gardening, sewing, quilting, shopping, and traveling with her husband and dear friends. She had a lifelong love of reading and enjoyed being a member - and president - of the Colonna Book Club. When she joined a group or club, she naturally rose to a leadership position, often becoming president. She was a true example of a servant leader!

Connie died at age 78 at St. Thomas Hospital, a place dear to her heart, where she served more than 20 years as a volunteer. She is fondly remembered there as a president of the volunteer organization, a Eucharistic minister, and a Stephen minister. Connie will be missed dearly and daily by so many. We are deeply saddened by her death, but we have faith we will see her again. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

We are grateful for the care she received from TN Oncology, Encompass Hospice, and St. Thomas Hospital during her battle with stage IV lung cancer, a baffling diagnosis as she was a lifelong non-smoker. We greatly appreciate the support provided by the H.O.P.E Ministry and countless friends and family members who made meals, brought Communion, sent cards, and prayed for her and for our family.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents Edward Anthony and Stella Smalara Hvizdos, her sister Shirley and her brother Bud. She is survived by her husband Ronald E. Siemanski, her daughters Beth Ann Bailey (Alex) and Cheryl Preston (Danny), and her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Maxwell, Jared, Rachel, and Miles Bailey, and Tyler Marie and Gracyn Preston. Other survivors include her sister Kathy Reed, brothers Bill Hvizdos (Cindy), and Mike Hvizdos (Jan), and several nieces and nephews.

Connie's life will be celebrated with a funeral Mass at St. Henry Church, 6401 Harding Road, Nashville, TN on Wednesday, March 11th at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 9:30a.m. to 11:00 am. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Henry Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.
