Constance Ann Vettel, age 70 of Nashville, TN, peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on August 14, 2021, after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). She was born December 1, 1950, the daughter of Louis and Eileen Vettel.
Connie was a 1969 graduate of Ashtabula High School, and a 1973 graduate of Kent State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. She began her career teaching math at Geneva Junior High School in Geneva, OH. Later, she decided to change course and moved to Washington D.C. to accept a position working in the office of Congressman Bill Stanton. When he retired, she joined the staff of the Representative of California, and worked on the House Banking and Finance Committee.
In 1979, she met and married Michael Rollins, the father of her two children. She lived in Fredericksburg, VA, Columbia, SC, Asheville, NC, and then settled in Nashville, TN. She remained a stay-at-home mother but would later return to teaching for the Metro Nashville Public School System. After retiring from teaching, her health began to decline.
Connie was a kind and loving soul, who had an outstanding sense of humor. She loved and was loved by her MANY friends and family members, children, and grandchildren and spent her final years enjoying their company.
She loved to travel, garden (tomatoes, sun flowers, and impatiens were some of her favorites), play board games, bowl, music (she was an exceptional accordion player), and cook. She adored football and was a passionate fan of the University of Notre Dame, Ohio State, the University of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Titans professional football team. Some of her favorite television programs included Impractical Jokers, Married with Children, and Wheel of Fortune, amongst others. Although her disease ultimately limited her abilities, she stayed close to family and friends daily by phone and Facebook.
Connie is survived by her son and caregiver, Christian Rollins and her beloved daughter Kimberly (Clayton) Graham, both of Nashville. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Kayleigh, Britton, Taylor, Clayton, and Hayden Graham, siblings; Honorable Ronald W. (Janet) Vettel, Karen Vettel Jerman, and Louis Martin Vettel; nephews; Michael Vettel, Joseph Jerman, Louis and William Vettel; nieces,Josephine Jerman-Menie and Jennifer Jerman; Uncle George (Miyoko) Frohmader.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Eileen Vettel, nephews Jeffrey Jerman, Bobby Lampela, and many favored aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Connie was a wonderful daughter, sister, niece, and cousin to her family members, and the best mother, grandmother and friend to her children and grandchildren. She will be forever missed but will always remain close in our heart.
In lieu of flowers donations in her honor may be made to Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.
