Darlene Penrod Wood passed away in Franklin, Tennessee on the night of May 7th, 2022. She is survived by her sister, Deloma Henderson, her son, Martin Wood (Catherine) and daughter, Leslie Gilliam (Mark) as well as her 5 grandchildren (Courtney, Tyler, Taylor, Ben, Ellie) and 2 great-grandchildren (Bradley Grace, Nash). She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Wood and her siblings, Gerald, Phyllis, and Lorraine.

Darlene grew up in Pinetop, Arizona - the fourth of five children and the daughter of Cliffie and Hans Penrod. She became a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines in the 1950’s where she met her husband, Tom, on a flight in 1958. They were married in 1960 in Arizona, moved to California, and then moved to Tennessee where they raised their two children in Brentwood.

Darlene was a devoted wife and mother, and committed member of her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she was a member for over 60 years. Darlene loved being a “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented baker, known for her sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls, as well as a gifted artist and painter. She was beloved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2:00pm at Harpeth Hills Memory gardens 9090 Highway 100 Nashville TN, 37221.
