David M. Adams, age 77, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday August 21, 2016.

David was born April 5th, 1939, in St. Benedict, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Verna and Theodore Adams; and by his eleven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife: Ellen "Jeri" Adams. David is also survived by his son: Ricky Adams (Cathy); his daughter: Cheryl Hargrove (Dennis); stepsons: Lane Rutledge (Tammi) and Lee Rutledge (Dena); grandchildren: Alisha Crow (Matt), Ricky Adams Jr. (Jamie), Brittany Hand, Brandy and Dennis Hargrove Jr., Emilie Dudas (Justin), Bret Rutledge, Ryan Rutledge, Will Rutledge and Kate Rutledge; great-grandchildren: Blake, Madison and Jackson Adams, and Harper and Avery Hand.

David was a proud employee of the United States Post Office for 38 years before retiring in March of 1999. He married his devoted wife, Ellen "Jeri" Adams in 1975. He has been a member of the Harpeth Heights Baptist Church since 1980 and served as Deacon for a number of those years. David had a long-time faithful friend in their pet Susie, who he adored. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, church member, and friend. He will be deeply missed by many.

Active Pallbearers will be Ricky Adams Jr., Will Rutledge, Bret Rutledge, Justin Dudas and Paul Fuerst. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the McKinney Sunday School Class.

The visitation will be on Saturday, August 27th from 11-1 at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens and Funeral Home at 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221, with funeral services to immediately follow.
