David King Glisson passed away on June 28, 2015. He was born March 14, 1940 in Dyer, TN and was preceded in death by his parents, Boone Allen and Virginia Louise King Glisson, infant baby brother Charles Allen Glisson and his wife of 40 years, LeeAnn Cherry Glisson.
He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Joan McFarland Lucas Glisson, his son Todd David Glisson and daughter-in-law Libby Halbrooks Glisson and their two girls, GraceAnn Elizabeth Glisson and Virginia Butler Glisson. He adored his two granddaughters and even during his battle with cancer, he attended every game, event, and play in which they participated.
David is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Ann Glisson Shockley and her husband David Allen Shockley of Du Quoin, Illinois and Nancy Fay Glisson Bawcum and her husband Cletis Earl Bawcum of Kenton, Tennessee.
He will be remembered as a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who cared for others with consistency and dependability.
Dyer, Tennessee was his home until he graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN. He began his insurance career in 1963 with the Royal Insurance Group. David joined the Nashville based Allen Agency Inc. in 1972 and in 2000, he joined Cooper, Love and Jackson and BB&T. He worked over 45 years specializing in personal and commercial insurance. David loved serving his customers and did so even after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August of 2014 until his retirement in March of 2015.
He served on the Boards of Mur-Ci Homes, the Melrose Civitan Club, and was a deacon and long standing member of Crievewood Baptist Church and Forest Hills Baptist Church.
To honor and celebrate David's life, there will be a time of visitation at Forest Hills Baptist Church at 2101 Old Hickory Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37215 from 11:00 to 12:45 on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Funeral services will immediately follow at the Church at 1:00 pm. There will be a private burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Endowment Fund of Franklin Road Academy, 4700 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220.
