Donice Marguerite Sweeley Heckler Crawford was granted her angel wings on September 22. Resident of Nashville since 1962, mother of four, step-mother of one, grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 7 and wife of Thomas Heckler (deceased 1969) and Jim Crawford (deceased 2013).

Donice was born August 26, 1922, in Charleston, Illinois to Don and Bernice Sweeley. She graduated Paris High School.

Prior to her wedding to Thomas Milton Heckler in 1944 she worked for the FBI in Washington, DC. After the sudden death to her husband, she started a career as a secretary in 1970 working at Bellevue and Hillwood High Schools then Churchhill Mortgage until her marriage to Jim Crawford.

She enjoyed a singing career with Sweet Adelines, was a serious card player, an avid book reader, loved sports, especially golf and tennis, needlework, gardening, traveling and always enjoyed a good football game. Go Penn State and Notre Dame.

She is survived by her sons Thomas (Jeanne) of Niagara Falls, NY, Scott (Sue) of Jacksonville, FL, Kip (Cindy) of Acworth, GA, and her daughter Kandi of Rockvale, TN; step-son Chris Crawford (Amy); her grandchildren Julie, Carrie, Kristine, Josh, Jennifer, Adam, Jason, Alex, Stephanie, Thomas, Allison, Cody, Drew; and her great-grandchildren Hazel, Stephen, Maia, Henry, Autumn, Maren, Jonah.

Visitation will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, located at 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221 on Saturday, September 24, from 5-7 p.m. Her End of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 25 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Pavilion at Harpeth Hills.
