Donna Juanita Harris, age 86, of Bellevue, went to be with Jesus on November 18, 2014.
Donna was born December 3, 1927 in Dante, VA, daughter of John Clark Holbrook III and Cordelia Mae Burke Holbrook. She is survived by her children John Harris and wife Betty, daughter Patti Harris, and sister Bonnie White.Donna was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Tommy Gene, her parents John and Cordelia Holbrook, her sisters Nona, Alice, JoAnn, Bessie, Edith, Betty Lou, and Cora, and brothers Jackson, Lemuel, Ed, John, and Bill.
Donna was a loving mother and wife with a zest for life that few could match.She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling, gardening, and taking care of her hummingbirds. While she was married, she worked in the home taking care of her family. Prior to marriage and during WWII, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" loading, assembling and adding fuses to antiaircraft shells at the Shell Loading Plant in Bristol, VA. When the war was over, she went to work at Intermountain Telephone Company.In later years, she was a cook at various country clubs and restaurants, but what she loved most was cooking at an elementary school where she could interact with the children.
Services at will be on Saturday, November 22, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00-12:00 p.m. and funeral at 12:00 p.m.
