Doris Ruth Kestner was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 15, 1932, to William Copeland and Auberta Christine Lancaster. She passed away on July 15, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, William “Doc” Copeland Lancaster and Auberta Christine Overby, and sister, Helen Joyce Christians.
Doris is survived by her husband, Elliott "Hot" Kestner; sister, Anita Elkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including a few great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In her youth, she attended Cohn High School where she not only focused on education, but also on sports. She was a member of the basketball team and was a cheerleader. Her love for sports was with her throughout her life.
Doris was dedicated to her career. Working at First American National Bank for an impressive 45 years, where she displayed unwavering professionalism. However, her role as a wife to her devoted husband was one of her most treasured memories.
Beyond her educational achievements, Doris had a vibrant personality that drew people towards her. She found joy in the pleasures of life - from detective stories and gameshows on TV, to baking delicious treats. Her interests were varied, whether it was to music, tending to flowers, or cleaning with meticulous care.
Doris's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her marriage. She tied the knot on November 18, 1950, and had almost 74 years of love and companionship with her husband, Elliott. Their bond was a true testament to the power of lifelong commitment and unwavering dedication. Ruth was the flower of Elliott’s life.
She was a faithful member of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church for many years, finding solace in her faith and community. Her presence brightened the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
