Dorothy Russell Baldinger
Feb. 8, 1922- Dec. 21, 2021

“ Dot” Baldinger died early December 21st seven weeks before her one hundredth birthday.  She was born in Nashville and graduated from St. Bernard Academy.  She was married to Frank Baldinger for 69 years before his death in 2010.

Dot had many talents.  She studied piano for twelve years and could also play “ by ear” any song heard on the radio or ones sung by her children.  She was an accomplished seamstress who made most of the clothes for her daughters including prom gowns that were later remade into Winter Dance gowns.

She created a variety of quilts for her family members. She was a loyal Braves fan and for years attended Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball games.
She was the ultimate caregiver.  She cared for her mother for many years and for her husband as well.  For years, she answered calls for food needs in the St. Matthew’s Church community.  Her greatest joy was in raising her three girls and being part of the lives of her three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  She flew to the birth location of each of her grandchildren to support the new family.  With great pride she attended the high school and college graduations of her grandchildren.

Dot is survived by daughters Jean Jones (Ken) of Peabody, MA, Mary Jane Baldinger (Michelle); grandchildren Rich Hannah (Seana) Portland, Oregon, Amy Anderson (John) Arlington, MA and Dave Hannah (Sara) East Longmeadow, MA, and seven great grandchildren Matt, Megan, Kyle, Jeremy, Codi, Conard and Ryan.  She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Ann B. Palmer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Belle Meade for their kindness and care in The Crossings.

A private family service will be held on Friday.  Masks required.
