Dorothy “Dot” L. Holcomb entered her heavenly home on March 17, 2025, at the age of 90 years. She was born to Frances and Milton Moody, Sr. on September 25, 1934, in Nashville, TN. Dot always dreamed of becoming a nurse and she pursued her passion in the middle years of her life, graduating as a Cum laude RN from Columbia State, working, and eventually retiring as a critical care nurse at St. Thomas West in Nashville. She loved to cook and was a master of it. Dot particularly loved the holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas and would usually wind up cooking for 35-45 people. She took on projects around the house watching “how to fix it” videos and with her determination and spirit, figured it all out.
Dot is preceded in death by her parents, Frances Moody Cook and Milton H. Moody, Sr., sisters, Harriett Coleman, Rececca Moffitt, and daughter, Teresa King. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Holcomb, her children, Diana Fitzgerald Ambrose, George Fitzgerald, Jr. (Beverly), and Pam Bianconi; brother, Milton H. Moody, Jr. “Bubba”. Dot had an abundance of family members that she loved and adored, including 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Dot reared her children through the love of Christ.
A Celebration of Life for Dorothy will be held graveside on Friday, March 21st, 2025, at 2:30 in the afternoon, in the Garden of Good Shepherd, Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 HWY 100, Nashville, TN. Jason Boyd will be officiating.
The family would like to extend their sincere love and gratitude to all of those caregivers at Alive Hospice for the love and support they offered to Dorothy and to the family. You could not ask for anyone with more compassion and care than what they gave.
“Come to Me. All you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
