Dorothy "Dot" Jean Parnell Sawyer, age 85, was born November 27, 1928 to Thomas L. Parnell and Annie Lee Batton Parnell. She was the youngest of 15 children, 4 of whom died in infancy. She was born in Perry Co. TN and later moved with her family to Waverly TN where she attended and graduated Waverly High School

She was married to Dorris Glenn Sawyer, Sr. on May 8, 1949 in Pegram at the Methodist church by Rev. Jacob H. Garner. She was baptized into the Pegram Methodist Church in July of 1949 by Rev. Gardener. She loved and was a faithful member of her church for 63 years when her health began to decline.

To Dorris and Dot were born 2 children; Melissa Ann Sawyer, November 12, 1953 and Dorris Glenn Sawyer, Jr., August 11, 1959.

She is survived by daughter Melissa S. McWright and dear son-in-law Jimmy; granddaughter Wendy Bowers Paszek and grandson-in-law Mike; great grandson Michael James Paszek; great granddaughters Makenna Hope and Macey Ann Paszek.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters Neely Parnell, Limon Parnell, Luther Parnell, Beatrice Parnell Pace, Lloyd Parnell, Sadie Parnell Little, Lonzo Parnell, Bertha Parnell Lofton, T.L. Parnell, and Dee Parnell.

Honorary Pall Bearers are The Ford Retirees Happy Couples Group.
