Dorothy “Dot” Brown passed peacefully on April 1st. Dot resided at Bethany Health and Rehab where she was dearly loved and cared for nine years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Martin Leo and Hattie Mai Ankenbauer, her spouse, Robert Luther Brown, a son Darrel Wayne Barnes. Eight brothers and sisters, Doris Janelle Breeding, Martin Leo Ankenbauer, Jr., Bobby Ray Ankenbauer, Charles Ankenbauer, John Thomas Ankenbauer, Mary Catherine Mullican, Betty O’Steen, and Martha Jean Morphis.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Leslie Clarence Barnes, Jr. one daughter, Joyce Barnes Nickens, five grandchildren, Cason Barnes, Marie Amsdill, Tiffany Nickens, Stacey Carmichael, Nicole Barnes. Dot is also survived by two sisters, Frances Ellen Berni and Peggy Joyce Wilburn.
Dot loved working in the hospital, whether with newborn babies, supervising employees or wrapping sterile surgical instruments. Dorothy believed in hard work and was employed until she was 80 years old. Dorothy worked the farm in her free time and loved selling her vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Family and friends were most important to her. She loved family reunions like a kid at Christmas. Dot was an amazing cook and always had enough food to share. Dorothy, Dot, Mama, Grammy will be deeply missed for her love and generosity to others.
Services at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Friday April 7, 2023 with visitation at 11:30 am and services at 1:30 pm located at 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, Tennessee 37221.
