Dorothy Irene Frizzell Bess, born in 1932, passed away on June 6, 2023 in Nashville following an illness. She was preceded in death by Lillian Vinson Frizzell and Robert L. Frizzell (parents), George Bolton Bess (husband), George Timothy Bess (son), and Loretta Dishner (sister).
She is survived by son David Todd Bess (Jana), Leshia Bess (daughter-in-law), and three grandchildren: Will Bess, Kayla Bess DuBois (Ethan) and David Bess. Other survivors include Becky Snow (sister), Thelbert Frizzell (Margie) and J.B. Frizzell (brothers), Robert Dishner (brother-in-law), and Audrey Greer and Evelyn Winters (sisters-in-law).
Dorothy graduated from Jackson County High School and later enjoyed her years of employment at Harvey’s Department Store, Nashville Electric Service, Third National Bank, and Huffine Electric Company. In addition, she was the owner of Bess Art and Framing.
Dorothy loved children, especially the time she spent working with her sons’ Cub Scout troops. She was also a devoted member of the Kemper Heights Church of Christ.
Her family wishes to recognize and thank Dr. David Allen, Hannah Stephens and her team at Woodcrest at Blakeford, as well as Sarah Primm and Gracie Hammontree of Accent Care.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kemper Heights Church of Christ located at 1040 Tuckahoe Drive Madison, TN 37115.
There will be a visitation Sunday June 11, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm and Monday June 12, 2023 from 9:00 am until the Celebration of Life 10:00 am all held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
