Dr. Rowland S. Hawkins, age 77, of Nashville passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was
born March 18, 1941 in Memphis, TN to the late Rowland Dale and Martha Helen Hawkins.

Dr. Hawkins is well-known and highly respected in the field of ophthalmology in the Nashville
and Middle Tennessee area. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of
Tennessee at Memphis. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Baylor Affiliated
Hospitals in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Hawkins is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the
American Academy of Ophthalmology, Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology, Nashville
Academy of Medicine, Tennessee Medical Association and American College of Surgeons.
As a doctor, a father, a grandfather, a friend, and a man of God, his main focus was to show
compassion, love and to help others.

He is survived by his daughter, Haley Hawkins and son, Hunter Hawkins; grandchildren,
Addison Hawkins, Cooper Hawkins, and Riley Penalosa.
