Dr. Wallace Howard Hall Jr.
entered eternal life on June 8, 2022, at the age of 93.
Born 1928 in Montgomery, Alabama, to Wallace Howard Hall Sr. and Martha Glenrose Grace. At the age of 14, Wallace became a devoted member of the Episcopal Church, finding work and refuge at the Church of the Holy Comforter, Montgomery, Alabama. In later life he worshiped at St. George’s Episcopal Church, Nashville, Tennessee.
Wallace “Sonny” Hall graduated from Hurt Military Academy in Montgomery and completed a major in mathematics at the University of the South at Sewanee where he and his brother participated in many sports, most notably football.
Upon moving to Nashville, Wallace began his ministry of service to God through medicine. He graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Class of 1953, and completed medical residency at the Thayer Veterans Hospital in Nashville. Wallace was an early practitioner at the Miller Clinic in East Nashville.
In 1962 Wallace opened private practice in Internal Medicine in Nashville.
He was also a founding physician owner of West Side Hospital and one of five founding physicians of the Frist Clinic at Centennial Medical Center.
Dr. Hall was well known and beloved for his devotion to his patients and dedication to the practice of medicine.
Preceded in death by both parents, his beloved wife of 55 years, Theresa Ivy Swinson of Montgomery, Alabama, and his brother, Robert E. S. Hall Sr., of Dawson, Georgia. Surviving children: Amy Theresa Hall Gipson of Nashville, TN; Robert Wallace Hall (Terri), of Kingston Springs, TN; and Emily Grace Hall Whybrew of Broken Arrow, OK. Grandchildren: Dr. Graham Thomas Gipson, Richmond, VA; Laura Elizabeth Gipson, Denver, CO; and Elizabeth Grace Whybrew, Broken Arrow, OK.
Private graveside services will be held at Harpeth Hills Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society and to Alive Hospice of Nashville.
