Bowman, Dunklin Caffey, Jr., DDS. Age 94. Died March 27, 2015. Preceded in death by parents Dunklin C., Sr. and Nelle Murray Bowman; wife Virginia Love Graves Bowman. Survived by son Lin (Dunklin C., III) Bowman and daughter Jennie Graves Bowman.
A native of Williamson County, Dunk graduated from Franklin High School and Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He then enlisted as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving aboard U.S.S. LST 376 in the Mediterranean and D-Day. After military duty, he received his D.D.S degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He first practiced dentistry with his father-in-law, Dr. Hershel A. Graves, Sr., before setting up his own private practice. He retired in 1994, especially enjoying travel and bridge. Dunk was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, Sunday School teacher, and Stephens minister. Lin and Jennie would like to thank the staff at Richland Place Healthcare Center for the exceptionally kind, compassionate, professional care given to their father over the last twelve years.
Private burial service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday, April 1st, 11 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Avenue, with a memorial service following at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church; Martha O'Bryan Center, 711 South Seventh Street, Nashville, TN 37206; Monroe Harding Children's Home, 1120 Glendale Lane, Nashville, TN 37204, or the charity of your choice.
