Edith Mayrue Harper passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born April 28, 1934 in Lobelville,TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Harper; parents, Leffler and Annie Walker; siblings, Barney Walker, Lessie Leegan, Mildred Smith, Lila Wright and Ralph Walker.
She is survived by daughters, Elaine Harper and Cindy Knight-Moore (Jackie); grandson, John Knight, along with several nieces and nephews.
She attended Draughons Business College and went on to work for Nabisco in Nashville. She then spent many years as a homemaker before eventually returning to work at St. Thomas Hospital. She worked at the West location before retiring after over 40 years of service. Thereafter, she frequently volunteered at the hospital.
She was a former member of Park Avenue Church of Christ and attended South Harpeth Church of Christ for many years. She was an extremely good cook and greatly enjoyed reading and creating from the latest cookbooks. She also loved to sew and over the years made many clothes for herself and her daughters. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many things for charity or friends and family. She had a green thumb and was surrounded by plants. She especially loved her African violets. She also loved hummingbirds and enjoyed watching them at hummingbird feeder. Edith will be greatly missed.
