Edna B. Yinger

Edna B. Yinger, age 96, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2024. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Gerald “Bud” Yinger. Edna was born on August 29, 1927, to the late James A. and Kate A. (Baird) Baty in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the youngest of nine children, and is also predeceased by her three brothers, five sisters, and by her oldest son, Samuel Yinger.

Edna’s family moved from Oklahoma to Carlisle, Pennsylvania during WWII, while she was in high school. It was there that she met and eventually married Bud Yinger in 1948. Prior to their marriage, she attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee for a year. Bud and Edna settled in Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where they raised their three sons and were long time members of Carlisle Church of Christ. In 2001, they relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to be closer to family.

Throughout her life, Edna was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and friend. She worked outside the home, when necessary, but her main focus was always her faith and her relationships with those close to her. She had a song in her heart and a beautiful singing voice and was a soloist at many weddings over the years.

Edna is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lilah Yinger of Franklin, Tennessee; sons, William (Amy) Yinger of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Michael (Carol) Yinger of Nashville, Tennessee, seven grandchildren (Christine Jones (Dwight), Katie Hagewood (James), Nathan Yinger, Lisa Johnson (Chad), Rachel Matar (Christian), Neva Piombino (Vincent), and Hannah Yinger), three great-grandchildren (Willow, Hallie, and Titus), and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:30am with burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, Tennessee 37221. Visitation will begin at 9:30am on April 20, prior to the service.
