Edward Arthur Fish passed away on January 23, 2014 after a short illness. He was born in Waycross, GA on April 19, 1923 and was raised in Gainesville, GA and Williamsburg, KY. Although, he had great achievements as an Eagle Scout, an athlete, a member of the Army and a businessman, his family brought him the greatest joy. He married his high school sweetheart, Marguerite Boswell Early, on July 12, 1947. They were married 66 "glorious" years. Ed and Marguerite danced at Kennedy's inaugural ball, traveled the world with good friends and skated up and down the C & O Canal with their family. They had four children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with three more on the way. Mr. Fish loved and was loved by his large extended family and his favorite times were spent with them during summers at Monteagle Sunday School Assembly. He was a consummate storyteller with great wit, incredible memory and a boisterous and distinct laugh. A lover of the spoken word and a master of puns, he had an interesting and (usually) hilarious anecdote for any place or event. Everyone who knew Mr. Fish has their favorite story. His athletic career started in Williamsburg, Ky where he led the small town high school basketball team to the only state victory the town has ever won. The paper said "Fish played whale of a game". During his first year a Cumberland College, his freshman team defeated the University of Kentucky freshman. The famous Adolf Rupp investigated why and recruited Fish to play at the University of Kentucky. In 1944 he wanted to contribute to the war effort so he cut his basketball career short and joined the Army. As an officer in Korea, Fish taught jiu jitsu. His 55 year career in life insurance began in Williamsburg and took him to Louisville, Washington D.C., Atlanta and Nashville. He was most proud of starting two companies that sold Variable Annuity type products and representing the insurance industry in a case before the Supreme Court regarding whether products were securities or insurance. He served as a trustee on the Board of Directors at the
University of The Cumberlands, was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Belle Meade Country Club and past president of the Opera Board.

Mr. Fish was preceded in his death by his parents, Edward A. Fish and Tallu Jones Fish, and his grandson, Lewis Fish. He is survived by wife Marguerite Early Fish of Nashville, and his
sisters Tallu Fish Scott of Pittsburgh, PA and Betty Fish Smith of Cynthiana, KY, his four children Margie Fish Martin and her husband Kirke, of Nashville, Edward A. Fish III and his wife, Toni, of Atlanta, GA, John B. Fish and his wife, Denice, of Nashville, TN and Walter L. Fish of Atlanta, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, P.O. Box 307, Monteagle, TN. 37356.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26 from 1-3 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Blvd. with a memorial service to follow.
