Edward (Ed) Loring Hooper, of Murfreesboro, TN died February 7, 2017 at St. Thomas - Rutherford County after a brief illness. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on Oct. 9, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mildred Hooper and daughter Barbara. Ed attended David Lipscomb High School and Columbia Military Academy. He is survived by two children; Debbie Wood (Kevin) of Chandler, AZ and Jennifer Al-athari (Haider) of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by a brother; Wade Hooper (Lorenda) of Fairview, TN, a sister; Joanne Hooper of Murfreesboro, TN , seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ed was an avid runner, having competed in many marathons over the years. He also took great pride in volunteering for various causes. He spent many hours helping construct walking trails at Radnor Lake State Park and later volunteering his time to the Fairview, TN chapter of the Meals on Wheels Program.

A private memorial will be held by the family followed by internment at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
