KOHL, Edward Hardeman – Died peacefully September 12, 2021. Born in Nashville, TN on March 23, 1931 to Sadie Worrall Kohl and William F. Kohl. Preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Finger. Survived by his loving and faithful wife of 64 years, Hilda Cotter Kohl, and eight children, Debbie (Toni), Kim (Mike), Vicky (Joel), Michael (Marian), Pam (Jon), Pat (Dennis), Jeff (Mariam), Shawn (Jenny), 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ed graduated from Holy Name Elementary School and the 1950 Class of Father Ryan High School. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army assigned to Co. A 1901st Engineer Aviation Battalion stationed in Labrador maintaining airstrips. He was very proud of his service to his country. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he began a 41-year career with BellSouth working tirelessly to provide for his family.
He put his faith and trust in Almighty God and was a faithful communicant of St. Henry Catholic Church where he served Mass well into his 80s, coordinated Loaves and Fishes and a member of Knights of Columbus #544. His passions were his family, country, Notre Dame sports and time spent at Johnson’s Creek with friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday September 15th at 11:00 a.m. Both will be at St. Henry Catholic Church. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and honorary pallbearer will be lifelong friend Robert L. Ballow. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers[MK1] , donations may be made to International Justice Mission, P.O Box 2227 Arlington, VA, 22202 or to St. Henry School Tuition Assistance Fund, 6401 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205.
