Edward Phillips passed away on June 23, 2023. Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Clara Mae "Polly" Welch Phillips and his favorite sister, Anne (Don) Proctor.
Ed graduated from Monterey High School and went on to serve his country as a Marine. He loved taking the scenic route; enjoying every moment along the way and never rushed to reach his destination. Ed spent his free time duck hunting and fly fishing. He even tied his own flies! Ed also had an excellent taste in music; he loved bluegrass and jazz music and going to Tower Records. Thursdays were reserved for Blackstone Brewery.
He had a soft spot for baseball games; Ed loved nothing more than watching his grandson's baseball games and his granddaughter's softball games. Ed captured images and developed photos that seemed to make the world stand still.
Debbie and Ed got married 47 1/2 years ago in a courthouse in Nashville, dressed in their hippy blue jeans. The couple enjoyed every moment of their time together. Debbie was his soulmate, confidant, and best friend until the very end. Their deep love for each other allowed them to build a beautiful life together which included their daughter Libby (Brian) Spears, grandson Mason Spears age 15, granddaughter Ella Spears age 8, grand dogs Buster & Bailey.
Ed is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Libby Spears (Brian), grandchildren Mason Spears and Ella Spears, brother Keith Phillips, close In-laws Ann & Harold Spears, Ohio cousins, and many lifelong friends who he considered more like family.
The family welcomes friends for visitation at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden, Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 9090 TN-100 in Nashville on July 2nd from 12:00 pm to 4 pm. A graveside service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden on July 3rd at 11 am.
