Edwin Barnicott Jr.

Edwin F. Barnicott, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on May 5, 2023, at the age of 74. He was born on March 26, 1949, to the late Edwin F. and Thelma L. Barnicott (Starrett). Ed enjoyed cooking for his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed golf, swimming, and scuba diving and loved the beach. Ed developed a great interest in computer science during his ministry, developing a program used by many churches and was recognized by PC Magazine.

Ed Served in the United States Air Force and is a graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington where he earned a bachelor’s degree and two years of post-graduate studies in Communications. Ed also received a Master of Divinity in Religious Education degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ed spent 12 years in the ministry, serving at churches in Lexington, Kentucky and Clarksville, Indiana before opening his business, Comsult, Inc. specializing in software development, micro-computers, information technology and consulting.

Ed spent the final twenty years of his career working with the boards of accountancy leading to the development of the computerized Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination eventually joining the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) retiring as VP of Strategic Planning and Program Management.

In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his sister, Mary, and his stepson, Mark.

Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 23 years, Nancy; his children, Leanne and Jeremy; stepdaughter, Stacy; siblings, Paul, Paula, and Ruth; grandchildren, Bryson, Jazzy, Jay, Kenneth, Devon, Emma, Kyle, and Nick; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, in the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30pm on Friday, May 12, until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alive Hospice located in Nashville, Tennessee. The loving staff took such care of both Ed and his family during his final days.
