Elfie Allene Anderson Lankford, age 90, born September 26, 1926 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Elfie was a strong Christian woman who served the Lord Jesus alongside her husband and together they exhibited their faith and taught their children to do the same thing. She loved her family and worked tirelessly to provide a secure home environment and one that was conducive to learning and fun. No one could have had a better Mom, sister, or friend and we all look forward to the reunion with her in heaven.
Elfie was a native of Fairview, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; Monroe and Mary Spicer Anderson, her husband Cledoth Alvin Lankford, son Darrell A. Lankford, brothers; Larry Anderson, Bryce Anderson, Eugene Anderson, Wayne Anderson, Junior Spicer, Sisters; Novaline and Vivar.
Elfie will be remembered for her loving and caring spirit toward others. As the mother of three boys, she was always active and involved in their care and nurturing. She was a dedicated member of the West Nashville Heights Church of Christ, as long as her health allowed. Elfie was a teacher's aide to special education students at Calvert school in the Metro Nashville School system. Elfie was always active and proficient in swimming, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, golfing and playing tennis into her 70's and 80's. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well.
She is survived by two sons: Don Lankford of Nolensville and Dave Lankford of Houston, TX, 4 brothers: Thomas Anderson of Nashville, James Anderson of White Bluff, Ned Anderson of Fairview and Dillon Anderson of Ashland City; 4 sisters: Clemmie Buttrey of Fairview, Vera Mae Cook of Fairview, Barbara Hudgins of Fairview and Phyllis Warren of Dickson; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will gather with friends for visitation on Thursday, February 16th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday, February 17th from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 17th, in the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
